So I bought Clip Studio Pro when it was on sale for 70% off.  I couldn't say no to $15.00 for a program that mostly does what Photoshop does.

But.

I'm currently in a little bit of an art slump.  I've done two rough sketches and wanted to try them in the new program.

Picture 1 - pbs.twimg.com/media/B388QjCCAA… - Uninspired, I don't like the design of the face or pose.

Picture 2 - pbs.twimg.com/media/B5AhBBKCQA… - I like the idea, really fun.. but not fleshed out in the least.

The problem is I'm not sure if it's not working out for me because I'm not doing well without photoshop, or because I'm giving myself crap source materials. .. or just because I'm not motivated to do art right now.

Also, I might be crazy, but I think there's a teeeeny difference in the way that brush strokes are displayed then handled between PS and CSP.  It's like it's overestimating in CSP and I actually need to stroke further than the brush indicator shows. Does that make sense?  I don't know.

Grah!

Definitely the brush strokes are going to be handled differently in a different program.  I experienced the same issue between gimp and photoshop.  (I couldn't stand gimp.  It was too laggy.)

The two poses look fine to me.  I really like the second one.  It looks cute.  It could be that you are going through an art block.  I know we all get those from time to time.  What I would suggest to get out of an artblock is to draw something mindless.  (when I say that I mean...)  When I get stuck in an art block, often I will look up artists that I admire and then try to recreate their pieces.  Either via sketching, or photoshop color blocking.  Then, I look at it and decide which parts of it I do or don't like and try to learn from said artist.  I also will sketch lots and lots of models.  I save pictures on my phone of interesting poses and landscapes so that if I don't feel like drawing (From mind,) I can at least try to draw from what I see, which, doesn't take as much effort.  Maybe this will work for you?

For example (in my sketch dumps,):

I don't limit it to real people.  In this sketch dump I drew a lot from yotsuba as well.
